GE Sponsor Spotlight Print E-mail

ge_sponsor.jpg GE Energy’s Greenville site is dedicated to high-efficiency and high-reliability design, state-of-the-art manufacturing and innovative advances in power generation for heavy-duty gas and wind turbines. Greenville is also the headquarters of Energy’s Engineering Division, and is a center of excellence for gas turbine design and the headquarters for Renewables Systems Engineering.

Through our employee led organization, the GE Volunteers, our employees contribute thousands of hours each year in community service. Volunteer efforts range from major renovation of Camp Spearhead to tutoring elementary, middle and high school students. Each year GE volunteers construct several residential wheelchair ramps, hold a high school engineering competition, build houses with Habitat for Humanity, organize a gaming area for Special Olympic athletes, collect Christmas toys for children in disadvantaged homes and provide school supplies for elementary students in need.

During Hands on Greenville Day 2008, over 450 GE volunteers turned out and contributed over 2,000 man-hours to Camp Spearhead, so special needs campers could have a great summer experience.

GE also supports the Roper Mountain Science Center and last year contributed $100,000 for its new water ecology labs.

At last year’s Palmetto Peloton Project fundraising ride, riders from GE took the top honors. Our 23 riders raisied the most money of any team– $8,000.
